Launched in January 2015, Mirum was the culmination of three years of complex planning and relationship building to unite 11 J. Walter Thompson Company digital agencies located across the globe. Mirum has since expanded to 47 offices in 24 countries, with over 2,400 professionals in 2016.
The story of Mirum’s founding parallels the dramatic consolidation of digital agencies over the past several years, with many mergers and acquisitions implemented to meet the needs of global clients and build the global reach of agencies. Unfortunately, as the report points out, many studies show that 70-90% of mergers and acquisitions fail because organizations don’t follow best practice in managing the organizational change.
